R&W and Starlight

In 2017 the Richardson & Wrench group was proud to announce they exceeded their #400K4KIDS target. Since the start of the partnership with Starlight the R&W group has raised a total of $415,169.09 to help brighten the lives of seriously ill children.

R&W Executive Director Andrew Cocks handed over the cheque to Starlight Children’s Foundation at a morning tea held in the Children’s Hospital Randwick Starlight Express Room on February 16th, 2017.

The money has been raised by Richardson & Wrench offices across the network through its Spring Campaign, in which participating offices donated a portion of the commission on properties sold between September and November. Sponsorship from the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival, merchandise and raffle sales and other events has helped boost the total.

Mr Cocks said the network had exceeded its fundraising target and aimed to increase its contribution this year. “Partnering with Starlight as a network has been an extremely rewarding experience,” said Mr Cocks. “Those offices who took part have felt a real sense of giving back to the community, knowing that by banding together we can make a difference.”

Richardson & Wrench became involved with the Starlight Children’s Foundation after Michaela Gilden, the daughter of R&W Bondi Junction agent Dasha Goldman, suffered a massive brain haemorrhage at the age of 10.

She spent many months in hospital following her recovery, learning to walk and talk again and was the lucky recipient of a Starlight Wish.

Dasha said ‘the Starlight Team were amazing, their commitment to fulfilling and exceeding Michaela’s wish was phenomenal’. Michaela was treated to a number of experiences including tickets to see Justin Timberlake and a day on the set of Home and Away, complete with limousine transfers, a new outfit and hair styling at Joh Baileys.

Michaela, now a bright 26-year-old, was at the Children’s Hospital to help with the first cheque handover helping to cement a highly rewarding partnership between the R&W network and Starlight.
